Western Health is seeking the services of a salaried Medical Internist at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador. Responsibilities include participation in the General Medicine on call schedule and providing inpatient, Emergency room, ICU patient care and Office based General Internal Medicine consultation service, performing, reporting Treadmill Exercise Stress Tests, Holter and EKGs reports.
Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital is a 44-bed acute care hospital offering 24-hour emergency room service, on-site Chemotherapy Hemodialysis Units, OPD Clinics for Obs/Gyn, Nephrology, Urology, Pain Clinic, Surgery Clinic, two ORs doing predominantly General Surgery lists. Procedural Chronic Pain clinics are run weekly. The hospital is located approximately one hour's drive away from Corner Brook, the location of Western Memorial Regional Hospital (WMRH). WMRH is a 171-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland and provides services to a population base of approximately 78,000 people.
We are affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and we encourage and support academic interests.

Qualifications Required: Eligible for licensure as a Medical Internist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada eligible and meets the credentialing requirements of Western Health's Discipline of Medicine.

Remuneration: The Specialist Salary Scale ranges from $263,672 to $285,596 per annum as outlined in the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with provincial guidelines will officially determine a physician's step assignment with yearly progression thereafter.
An annual Retention Bonus is offered in accordance with the current MOA. Additional benefits are available.

Located in scenic Bay St. George, the Town of Stephenville has a population of 7,200 and is the service center for a catchment area of approximately 25,000. Stephenville has choice state of the art recreational facilities, all of which are located in a very close proximity including the Regional Aquatic Centre with two large pools; the Stephenville Dome with ice hockey, figure skating, and a walking area. There is an arts centre with exhibitions and theatre, including the renown Stephenville Theatre Festival. Other amenities include West Coast Training Centre, Whaleback Nordic Cross Country Ski Trails, Caribou Curling Club and the 18-hole Harmon Seaside Links Golf Course, walking/snowshoe trials, ATV/snowmobile trials. There are opportunities for outdoor activities throughout the year.
