Temporary Full-time Until 1 September 2023, With Possibility of Extension
Social Worker I - Mental Health and Addictions
Blomidon Place, Corner Brook, NL

Duties: This position requires the management of complex, multi-needs cases based on current theory and methods of intervention for clients experiencing a wide variety of mental health issues. The position demands specialized social work skills in the areas of clinical assessment, risk management, and clinical intervention with children, adolescents and families. Intervention services include intensive therapeutic counselling for individuals, families and groups. The position also requires that this advanced knowledge be used to develop and facilitate professional education, clinical consultation, community awareness-raising activities, advocacy, and prevention initiatives.

Required Qualifications: Advanced knowledge of theoretical approaches and methods for intensive intervention with people experiencing mental health issues is required. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability in the areas of individual, family, and group counselling in these specialized fields. Knowledge of group dynamics, interventions, therapeutic and psycho-educational groups in mental health is required. Effective teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. Experience working in an interdisciplinary community-based mental health setting would be an asset. The required knowledge and proven abilities for this position would normally have been acquired through progressively responsible experience in the area of mental health and addictions. Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Social Work Degree. A Master's Degree is preferred. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers. A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is a requirement for this position.

**While the primary function of this position is to support operations of Blomidon Place, the Social Worker I may be involved in assessment, treatment, follow up and support of individuals with mental health and addictions needs throughout various mental health and addictions programs and services.
Please Note: If there is no suitable candidate with the required qualifications other levels of experience and training may be considered for this competition.

Hours of Work: 75 Hours per pay period
0830-1630 Hours, Monday to Friday; Flexible hours are required.
Salary Scale: $71,116.50 to $79,579.50 per Annum
